The AGM – Highlights

The AGM was held on 23rd April 2010 and initially chaired by our President Don G8JMP. This was due to our retiring chairman Malcolm G0MIC being absent due to illness. Minutes from last year’s AGM were read and accepted. Reports from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer were given.

Malcolm G0MIC was announced as the winner of The Mike Marshall Memorial Trophy for his talk “Basic Circuit Design and Construction”.

A rule change was proposed and voted for unanimously, to extend the maximum terms of office for chairman from 2 to 3 years and for President from 3 to 5 years. The Constitution and Rules document, rule 7c and 9 has now been changed to reflect this:

7. (c) All members of the Committee shall retire at the Annual General Meeting which shall be held in April and shall be eligible for re-election, except that the Chairman shall not hold office for more than three consecutive years.

9. PRESIDENT:

The Committee, together with four additional ordinary members elected for that purpose, may nominate a person of distinction to be President for a period of up to a maximum of 5 years. This person, whilst being concerned for the welfare of the Society, will not preside over or vote on the Committee. A President shall be eligible for re-election for a further term, but not in the consecutive 5 years. A President who has occupied the position shall, on his retirement, be known as a Past President.

A print of the revised document can be obtained from the secretary, upon request, or viewed and downloaded from our website.

A proposal to keep the subscriptions the same as last year’s was voted for unanimously. These being Full = £37; Reduced = £31 and Family = £55.

Our new Chairman was elected unopposed and is Tim G7JYQ.

Tim then chaired the rest of the meeting.

The Secretary was re-elected unopposed and is still Clive M0IAM

There were no nominations for Treasurer and the post is unfilled.

Peter G4YPC, Stella G0SWE and Simon G7HHI were all elected unopposed as members of the Committee.

Our President is still Don G8JMP; Stella G0SWE Programme Secretary and Raffle Organiser; Barry 2E1CML Natter Editor; Peter G4YPC Archivist and Canteen Manager; Andy G4XYW Web Master; Lynn Gale-Beech QSL Cards.

The AGM closed at 9.37pm.

Please note that Subscriptions are now due! Thank you.

Payment can be made to Clive M0IAM or to Stella G0SWE, until the post of Treasurer is sorted out by the committee.

28-Apr-2008
The AGM came and went without much drama.

The committee has changed, Malcolm G0MIC replaces Simon G7HHI as Simons 2 years are up, Clive M0IAM replaces Malcolm as Secretary and Peter returns to Committee as an ordinary member.

Subs have risen, for the first time in 6 years (I think), please see the Membersahip page for details.

The plea yet again, was for more stuff for the Natter. Barry is doing a FANTASTIC job of Producing and Editing it, but he really MUST have more input from members.

The GMES have almost finished the first stage of altering the club house so hopefully the chaos therein will subside for a bit. The general feeling is that the second phace will (hopefully) not be as disruptive as the first one has been.

Thats all for now, Andy
